About 2048
2048 is a simple sliding puzzle that’s very hard to put down. Every move slides all the tiles on the board in one direction. When two tiles with the same number bump into each other, they merge into one tile worth their sum: 2 + 2 makes 4, 4 + 4 makes 8, and so on up to 2048.
Each move also adds a new 2 (or sometimes a 4) in an empty square, so the board slowly fills up. Our version has smooth sliding, a satisfying pop on every merge, and toy colors that change as your numbers grow. Reaching 2048 isn’t the end: keep going for 4096 and beyond.
How to play
- Press Play. Two tiles appear on the board.
- Slide all tiles up, down, left or right with the arrow keys, or swipe on a phone.
- Matching tiles that touch merge into one. Your score goes up by the new tile’s value.
- The round ends when the board is full and no tiles can merge.
